During the last winter (03/12/2008 – 30/06/2009) I had the honor to participate in the grand group exhibition entitled SILENT DIALOGUES (curator: Megaklis Rogakos) which was organised by the American College of Greece (ACGArt). The text accompanying my participation (Orange Pop) in the art catalogue is as following:
"With her experience in creative design, Aphroditi Ioannou creates portraits of her friends and acquaintances. She takes the sitter's digital portrait as her starting point and electronically renders the formula of the elements that characterize it. Ioannou ads shadows and lights, and accentuates colors and changes the background in accordance with the mood she wishes to create. In the present portrait, Ioannou used a palette with a prevalence of orange and green, colors that give a sense of energy and freshness. The portrait thus became a fantastic character with idealized traits. Her eyes, in a flirting manner, "enter into a dialogue" with the background. The addition of the series of stars to the picture's lower left-hand corner emerged as a way of balancing the composition with an aesthetic appeal. The portrait was entitled Orange Pop because of the expression of youth that the sharp contrast of colors suggests. Athens Voice newspaper chose Orange Pop to adorn the cover of issue #185 in 2007." Below you can see a couple of photos from the gallery and also a photo of the art catalogue. Christopher is indeed one of the most adorable and cute babies I've met so far! First son of my dear friends Pauline and Dimitris. They adored their surprise custom portrait, which really made me happy! I wish them all the best and I'm looking forward to more of this cutie's heartfull smiles!
